City of Fishers is seeking a full-time Laborer – Street Maintenance to support the upkeep of over 1,700 lane miles of road, ROW areas, and school parking lots. The role includes snow removal for city streets and events coordination under the DPW.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver''s license, and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months. Lifting up to 100 lbs and evening/weekend work may be required.

Under the Department of Public Works (DPW) the Full-time Street Laborer position is integral part of a team that is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of over 1700 lane miles of road, 100's of acres or right-of-way (ROW), and snow removal for all City streets and HSE school parking lots. Besides the maintenance needed to keep streets and ROW at optimum standards, Fishers Street Maintenance has pioneered some of the most innovative maintenance techniques in the state. Other important responsibilities of the position include working at up to 100 special events held in the community (ex. concerts, 5K runs, holiday events, etc.). Fishers DPW Street Maintenance is the ideal place for someone in the pavement maintenance industry who wants to experience all aspects of maintenance.
Fishers DPW is the only municipal public works department in Indiana to hold the American Public Works Association (APWA) Certification which recognizes agencies that meet compliance with the recommended management practices set forth in the Public Works Management Practices Manual.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Valid drivers license and ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle required. This includes at least 3 years of experience driving not including permit time;
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers' License within six months of employment (training provided by the City of Fishers);
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs;
• Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance;
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of people;
• Able to handle several projects at the same time in adverse conditions;
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays due to weather events and/or business needs.
