Job summary

JORDAN FOSTER CONSTRUCTION in San Antonio is seeking a hands-on laborer for site work on building and heavy construction projects. You will perform physical tasks, operate hand and power tools, and assist with dewatering, concrete placement, and material handling.

The role requires a High School diploma (preferred) and at least 2 years in construction, with a flexible schedule and willingness to work day or night shifts, overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Use of demolition tools: jackhammer, air tools, sledgehammer, cut-off saw, etc.

Job Details

Job Location: San Antonio - San Antonio, TX 78223.

Job Summary: Perform tasks involving physical labor at building and heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

• General and final cleanup of project sites, project offices, surrounding areas, etc., removing hazards, materials, and debris.
• Distribute and cleanup of power & hand tools, extension cords, generators, etc.
• Dewatering activities and set up water pumps and hoses.
• Manual moving of formwork, lumber, rebar, and materials.
• Place concrete to/from a truck, pump, bucket, buggy, conveyor, etc.
• Hand excavation and backfill, and hand grade sub-base.
• Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks and trailers.
• Concrete tasks: rake, screed concrete, vibrate, and place concrete blankets.
• Use of demolition during various tasks: jackhammer, air tools, sledgehammer, cut-off saw, etc.
• Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
• Adheres to procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
• Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
• Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.

Qualifications – Required Skills / Abilities

• Basic use and knowledge of operating common hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in construction.
• Able to work a flexible schedule with last-minute schedule, location, time of shift change (day & night), and overtime work as needed.
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

Education and Experience

• High School or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum two (2) years' field experience in the construction industry.
• Valid Driver's License with clear MVR (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
• Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
• Able to work in confined spaces.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance repeatedly or continually throughout shift.
• Regularly works in an outdoor environment near heavy equipment, power tools, and moving machinery in the surrounding area.
• Able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
• Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
