The City of York is seeking a dedicated individual for a facility maintenance position responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of city parking garages and lots. This role includes a variety of tasks such as grounds maintenance, janitorial duties, and operating maintenance equipment. Candidates must have a high school diploma and a valid driver's license, and be prepared to meet residency requirements within six months of employment.
The purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of City parking garages and lots. Responsibilities include plowing snow, sweeping sidewalks, picking up leaves, cutting grass, repairing dysfunctional equipment and property, assisting with special events, removing large items from streets and properties, performing grounds maintenance, changing garage lamps, and executing all tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Other duties include operating trash trucks, riding mowers, and garage sweepers.
Additional ground maintenance duties involve picking up litter and trash, trimming weeds, spreading and hauling mulch, plowing snow and ice, removing dead animals from lots, garages, and sidewalks, trimming bushes and shrubs, spreading salt, blowing leaves, cleaning gutters, painting walls and fences, cleaning up broken glass, removing graffiti, trimming hedges, and weeding flower beds.
Facility maintenance tasks include sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from bins, providing janitorial maintenance to parking facilities, cleaning windows, and dusting and vacuuming floors and baseboards.
Other duties as assigned.
