Summary

This position is located at: Outdoor Recreation Adventure Park - Fort Riley, Kansas.

DFMWR provides family support activities and services; social, fitness and recreational activities that enhance community life, fosters Soldier and unit readiness and promotes mental and physical fitness; and wellness programs that directly support readiness and resiliency.

This is an open continuous announcement. All qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a weekly or as needed basis.

United States (U.S.) Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Duties
  • Operate large, complex riding lawn mower (e.g., multiple and independently controlled cutting decks) and/or specially designed riding mowers to mow in areas requiring attention to space and environment.
  • Performs tasks that require significant manual skill, very heavy physical effort, several steps, phases, and detailed procedures (e.g., preparing ground for sod, flowers and shrubs) following specifications on project requirements.
  • Incumbent is responsible for selecting the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish the work, following safety practices, obtaining assistance, and performing routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment.
  • Works indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outdoors. Exposed to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt. Possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must be willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment physical exam.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly preferred candidates will be referred to management first. In addition to meeting the above qualifications, highly preferred is defined as also meeting the criteria listed below:

  • Experience operating a chainsaw.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
