Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman responsible for preparing, handling, and supplying materials for other crafts. Responsibilities include loading/unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, tending mortar and grout, and moving materials between wheelbarrows and buckets.

The role requires completing a two-year apprenticeship, construction experience preferred, and the ability to operate various tools with strong teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

• Two-year apprenticeship completed.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered tools and equipment (vibrators, pumps, drills, jackhammers).
• Teamwork mindset with good communication and customer service skills.
• Repetitive motions involved; lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Lifting/pulling up to 50 lbs with assistance when needed.

Job description

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Journeyman that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
