Job description

These crews are responsible for working in residential and commercial areas on underground utilities, collaborating with their team to complete daily tasks.

Essential Functions:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work.
  • Assist equipment operators, including swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as jackhammers, rotary drills, and power actuated fasteners.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
  • Travel as required.

Success Factors:

  • Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a shift.
  • Climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, and perform walking, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Pass motor vehicle, criminal background checks, and comply with drug-free policies.
  • Communicate effectively in English for record-keeping, ordering, and reporting.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with underground utilities is desired.
  • CDL A license is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid State Driver’s License required.
  • Pass criminal background, MVR checks, and pre-employment drug screening.
