Job summary

Lamb Weston in Boardman, OR is hiring for a Laborer Heavy Trainee to break down totes, hand stack cases onto pallets, and assist cold room staff. You’ll follow customer specs and keep the staging area clean while supporting other shifts.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, tolerate hot and cold environments, and stand for long periods. Training is provided to grow with the team.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Work in a noisy manufacturing environment with extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to heat, cold, wet and dusty conditions during shifts.
• Able to perform repetitive arm/hand movements safely.
• Must be able to work with hands overhead and near equipment.
• Vision requirements include close and distance sight and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Hand stack (palletize) finished product cases pallets.
• Monitor product codes on the outside of the box for legibility.
• Monitor overall case condition for tears or leaks.
• Break down empty totes and bundle into shipping sets.
• Ensure Case Erector staging area is full at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Operate controls to dump totes of product into hoppers.
• Flex to other jobs as needed to cover rest and meal periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary

This positions’ general purpose is to break down empty totes, separating the good and bad totes, hand stacking cases on to the pallets according to customer specifications, and by assisting the cold room personnel for breaks and lunches.

Physical Environment/Demands

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
• Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature
• Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 12 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies
• Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.Ability to operate work related equipment
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation
• Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis
