Job summary

VW International is seeking a Laborer, Grounds Maintenance to keep industrial and commercial properties pristine. You will perform landscaping, mow lawns, trim hedges, plant and water greenery, and handle seasonal tasks such as snow removal and de-icing.

You’ll assist with maintenance of structures and outdoor spaces while adhering to safety guidelines. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather.

Qualifications

LABORER, GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

Position Summary

The Laborer, Grounds Maintenance maintains the grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties including buildings, parks, campgrounds, picnic areas, playgrounds, greenhouses, and athletic fields. This position is responsible for landscaping, grounds upkeep, snow removal, basic repairs, and general maintenance of facilities and outdoor areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cut grass using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs.).
• Trim hedges, shrubs, and edges around walkways, flowerbeds, and wells using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Prune shrubs and trees to promote healthy growth and maintain appearance.
• Apply fertilizer and insecticides to lawns, shrubs, and trees as directed.
• Plant and maintain grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Water lawns and landscaped areas using hoses or sprinkler systems.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, litter, and other debris.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways, driveways, roads, and parking areas using shovels, snow blowers, and other equipment.
• Apply salt or other de-icing materials to walkways and outdoor surfaces.
• Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of roads, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
• Clean comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots through sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Ability to safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment.
