MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Laborer/Groundman in the United States, North Carolina, Spring Lake area. Responsibilities include general labor for aerial and underground construction, fiber blowing operations, conduit installation, map reading, and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in overhead construction for RF and Fiber
• Climbing certification or relevant experience
• Knowledge of RF and Fiber network design and BOMs
• Flagger certification for field work when needed
• Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork and problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Dig trenches and unload materials; prepare job sites with hand tools
• Perform fiber blowing operations and conduit installation
• Read maps and follow design schematics for builds
• Move materials and assist Foreman; operate or assist with equipment
• Climb poles safely using appropriate gear; complete safety procedures
• Troubleshoot RF and fiber line/equipment issues as directed
• Construct and repair underground RF and fiber service
• Learn inventory and equipment requirements for projects

Responsibilities

As a Laborer/Groundman, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Be responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with the use of hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks
• Perform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable in conduits using fiber-blowing equipment
• Conduct general labor on construction sites
• Conduct placement of conduit as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor
• Be involved in map reading and directions
• Support with trench digging and closing
• Support with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor
• Conduct maintenance services as directed by the Foreman to include: Cleanup, Wash Vehicles, and Landscaping
• Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
• Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment, as directed and certified
• Tow various trailers with flatbed trucks
• Conduct Aerial/Underground work as needed and directed, and as trained
• Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and/or equipment issues
• Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service
• Learn how to read and construct from a design schematic of a map
• Learn all the inventory and equipment required for these projects
• As applicable, learn and be certified on the use of equipment: Line truck, Bucket truck, Cable Reel equipment, Saws, and drills
• Climb poles with climbing equipment safely
• Move and relocate RF and Fiber service
• Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines

• Climbing certification or related experience
• Practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber
• Knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials
• City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related
• Extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks
• Flagger Certified for field work as needed
• Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
