Job summary

Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is seeking a Laborer to perform mainly physical duties that support the Facilities Maintenance (FM) functions of the organization. The role involves tasks such as loading/unloading trucks, moving supplies, and maintaining grounds and facilities.

The position requires the ability to follow instructions, operate tools, and meet eligibility requirements for contract work. Overtime may be required, and some travel to sites may occur throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • Must comprehend written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work overtime and be on call as required in support of FM operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state they reside, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable under the corporate policy.
  • Must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on the specified contract(s).
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to the proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck; stack materials for storage or binning; collect refuse and salvageable materials; and dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations.
  • Maintain lawns, shrubbery, flowers, and trees using power and hand mowers, lawn tractors, clippers, and hand tools. May apply fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide to lawns, shrubbery, flowers, and trees as needed.
  • Level ground using a pick, shovel, tamper, or rake; shovel concrete; clean culverts and ditches; cut trees and brush; operate power lawnmowers; move and arrange heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances; move machinery and equipment; and pick up leaves and trash.
  • Be responsible for maximizing existing resources to support departmental budget requirements.
  • Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training requirements.
  • Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines
  • Perform duties required by the site-specific statement of work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

Physical Requirements

May travel to and from various locations and buildings throughout the year and in various weather conditions. May work with cleaning chemicals. Will be required to follow the Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements. Schedules are subject to change. May require working early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and/or evening hours as well as weekends and holidays.

While performing this job's duties, the team member is regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive), and lift up to 40 pounds. Will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
