Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc in Statesville, NC is hiring a Laborer-Construction to support field crews on job sites along the East Coast. You will follow safety procedures, learn from superintendents, and assist with blasting preparation and general labor.

Starting pay is $20.00 per hour plus a $150 weekly travel allowance, with pay increases as you train and meet targets. Some overtime and travel may be required; a valid driver's license and pre-employment physical are expected.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Experience as construction laborer is helpful but not required.
• Must have own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Company Safety procedures and policies.
• Learn safety aspects of working construction sites and around explosives.
• Perform construction laboring activities as directed by Supervisors.
• Work unsupervised when needed.
• Load and unload explosives from truck.
• Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
• Maintain clean and organized job site.
• Attend safety meetings and participate in job briefs.

LABORER-CONSTRUCTION

Ability to perform job specific instruction provided by Superintendents, Blasting Supervisor or Drill Operators. Individuals must be safety-minded and able to work well in varying weather environments. Out of town travel and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities:

Adhere to Company Safety procedures and policies

• Submit the following records to Blaster/Foreman on a Weekly basis: Accurate and Signed Time Card
• Ability to quickly learn safety aspects of working construction sites and working around explosives
• Ability to take direction and perform construction laboring activities
• Ability to work unsupervised occasionally
• Pump blast holes dry with water pump
• Load and unload explosives from truck
• Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes
• Maintain clean and organize job site
• Participate in monthly Foreman, periodic safety and job meetings as needed
• Participate in daily heads up safety meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License with good driving record and own transportation
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical & drug screen.
• Must successfully pass criminal background check for ATF
• Experience with construction laborer helpful, but not necessary
• Ability to learn and develop skills to later perform higher level tasks

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform essential functions of the position
• Position requires proficiency to work at a steady pace on uneven and loose surfaces outside
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 5% of time
• Ability to lift 50lbs, 50% of the time
• Stooping and bending 60 – 70% of the time

Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour plus $150/week travel allowance. Pay increase incentives as you train and hit target deliverables.
