Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting in Harrisburg, PA is hiring a Laborer-Construction to support blasting and general field labor on eastern coast projects. You will follow safety procedures, learn blasting operations, and assist with material handling, while reporting to foremen and supervisors.

Starting pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour with a $150 weekly travel allowance; overtime may be required. No prior blasting experience is necessary, but a safety-minded attitude and reliable

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and good driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must successfully pass ATF background check.
• Experience with construction laborer is helpful but not required.
• Ability to learn and develop skills for higher level tasks.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Company Safety procedures and policies.
• Submit time card records to Blaster/Foreman weekly: Accurate and Signed.
• Learn safety aspects of construction sites and around explosives.
• Take direction and perform laboring activities.
• Work unsupervised occasionally.
• Pump blast holes dry with water pump.
• Load and unload explosives from truck.
• Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
• Maintain clean and organized job site.
• Participate in monthly Foreman, safety and job meetings as needed.
• Participate in daily heads up safety meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

LABORER-CONSTRUCTION

Ability to perform job specific instruction provided by Superintendents, Blasting Supervisor or Drill Operators. Individuals must be safety-minded and able to work well in varying weather environments. Out of town travel and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Company Safety procedures and policies
• Submit the following records to Blaster/Foreman on a Weekly basis: Accurate and Signed Time Card
• Ability to quickly learn safety aspects of working construction sites and working around explosives
• Ability to take direction and perform construction laboring activities
• Ability to work unsupervised occasionally
• Pump blast holes dry with water pump
• Load and unload explosives from truck
• Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes
• Maintain clean and organize job site
• Participate in monthly Foreman, periodic safety and job meetings as needed
• Participate in daily heads up safety meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License with good driving record and own transportation
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical & drug screen.
• Must successfully pass criminal background check for ATF
• Experience with construction laborer helpful, but not necessary
• Ability to learn and develop skills to later perform higher level tasks

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform essential functions of the position
• Position requires proficiency to work at a steady pace on uneven and loose surfaces outside
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 5% of time
• Ability to lift 50lbs, 50% of the time
• Stooping and bending 60-70% of the time

Starting Pay:

$18.00-$20.00 per hour plus $150/week travel allowance. Pay increase incentives as you train and hit target deliverables.
