Job summary

Hoar Construction is seeking a Laborer to support craft workers on commercial or industrial sites in Auburn, Alabama. You will help load materials, use hand and power tools, and keep work areas clean and safe.

This role requires 6 months of experience, a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and strong English communication. Outdoor work, varying weather, and travel between sites are part of the job.

Job description

The Laborer is responsible to assist craft workers with various physical tasks at commercial or industrial construction job sites. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools and prepares and cleans task areas or work sites.

Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing and returning them to the appropriate locations; install or remove signage, railings, or other various hardware.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Operate hand or power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment or other as required.
• If certified, operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, bobcat.
• Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

Requirements:

• 6 months experience working as a commercial or industrial construction laborer
• Experience operating required hand and power tools
• Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
• Valid Drivers License
