Responsibilities

• Mix and handle concrete and refractory materials.
• Work at elevations using appropriate safety equipment.

• Load cement or other materials for shipping from the plant.

The Tehachapi Cement Plant is seeking qualified Laborers.

The Laborer will perform, under close supervision, a variety of general labor work required in or about the plant. Secondary function: Relieve employees in other classifications, if properly trained, and must always perform work safely during their absence.

Responsibilities

• Perform plant cleaning, shovel work, wheelbarrow work, scaling, jackhammer work.
• Unload coal, bricks or any other incoming materials which require considerable handling.
• Pick up scrap and debris from plant grounds/facilities.
• Dig ditches and make excavations.
• Mix and handle concrete, refractory.
• Work at elevation, with authorized safety equipment.
• Furnish manual labor required in relining kiln, such as hauling, hoisting, or passing bricks.
• Sweep floors and perform other cleanup work as required.
• Assist departmental control room operators.
• Load cement or other material to be shipped from the plant.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Must be able to perform all technical aspects of the job by using all tools or systems required to perform work.
• Must understand and apply all administration and safety procedures throughout the plant including equipment inspections, completing checklists, and submitting documents to assigned supervisor.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• The selected candidate will be required to join the Union at the facility upon completion of a 90-day probationary period.
