Qualifications

At CableCom, as an Aerial Laborer, you’ll perform general labor duties related to telecommunications construction and assist Aerial Lineman with completing work.

What you’ll do as an Aerial Laborer

  • Serve as groundhand for Aerial Lineman, provide parts as needed, move bucket truck as directed by Lineman
  • Ensure door-tagging and resident notification of construction activities are completed prior to starting each workday
  • Participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment
  • Hand dig using shovel and mechanical tools
  • Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
  • Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Work in congested or remote areas
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination
  • Perform general construction work under the direction of Foreman/Supervisor
  • Handle flagging, property, or worksite restoration tasks
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely
  • A valid standard Driver's License or Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card
  • Effective communication skills with customers and team members
  • Consistent and timely attendance
  • Ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential for overtime, after-hours, weekends, or on-call work

Preferred qualifications

  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Six months of experience in utility construction
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, reach, climb, balance, crawl, lift, and handle objects in various positions
  • Work while wearing safety boots, glasses, and hardhat
  • Work in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, sleet, dust, and fog
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed, with or without assistance

Pay Range: $23 - $25 per hour
