Desoto Group is hiring a Laborer to support natural gas distribution projects in Orlando, FL. The role involves general labor on a crew, including digging, material handling, and equipment operation to install, replace, and maintain lines.

We value safety, reliability, and teamwork; candidates should be able to work outdoors, travel as needed, and meet FMCSA/DOT requirements. This is a full-time position with benefits and PTO.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Laborer performs general labor activities, on a crew, to assist with the completion of natural gas distribution system projects. This includes installing, replacing, and maintenance of plastic and steel facilities, as well as meter and regulator settings, and restoration of soft and hard surfaces.

Duties

• Hand dig holes and trenches with hand tools
• Shovel material, soil and cold patch asphalt mix
• Compact soil and asphalt
• Operate various types of trucks and equipment
• Transport equipment and materials
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and field leaders
• Properly lift tools, objects, and equipment of varying weight
• Utilize proper tools to prep hard surfaces for removal.
• Complete hard surface and soft surface restoration with appropriate materials
• Travel frequently within designated work area
• Learn techniques for pipe fusion, pipe squeeze-off, meter set build, and pressure testing

Qualifications

• Outdoor work or manual labor experience
• Ability to work outdoors in densely populated and remote areas
• Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time
• Ability to work at a variety of heights/depths
• Ability to work in small and sometimes confined spaces
• Reach, bend, stoop while performing work
• Ability to safely climb up and down a ladder
• Operate or safely work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Ability to read technical instructions
• Obey all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and regulations
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years’ experience in lieu of education will be considered and DLS.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Clean driving record and a DOT physical or ability to obtain one upon employment

Preferred:

• 1+ year gas construction experience
