Title: Laborer

Location: Columbia, LA

Classification: Full Time

Position Summary

The Laborer is responsible for performing tasks related to loading and unloading aggregates and other materials from barge to truck. Must demonstrate dependability, work ethic, time management, communication skills, and safety awareness. Reports to the Manager at this location.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform general labor activities such as shoveling and sweeping.
• Operate unloading and loading equipment including material handlers, Skid Steer Loader, and Front-End Loader.
• Consult with personnel on machine specifications and safety procedures to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Conduct routine inspections before operating equipment to identify maintenance needs.
• Request or perform necessary repairs and adjustments.
• Communicate and report on site activities as required.
• Complete unloading tasks efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Expertise

• Must be coachable.
• Knowledge of operating machinery.
• Understanding of unloading/loading procedures and techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to complete safety training and lead by example.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and quickly solve problems.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to two years of related experience preferred.
• Valid/current Driver's license required.
• Dependable transportation to TRS locations is mandatory.
• Availability to work various hours, including holidays and weekends.
• Ability to pass background and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

• Meet "fit for duty" requirements (pre-employment physical, drug test).
• Physical ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, and negotiate uneven surfaces.
• Work in various weather conditions.
• Comfortable working on barges.
• Lift up to 75 pounds and work at heights up to 40 feet.
