Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. in Hammond, IN seeks a Laborer to support railroad derailment responses and related environmental projects. You will lift and move derailed rail cars, operate tools, and assist with site cleanup on industrial locations and rail construction sites.

Compensation starts at $25.07 per hour with overtime; full-time schedule includes travel up to 50% and 24/7 emergency coverage. Benefits include training, company-paid benefits, and career growth opportunities within a stabilized

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a CDL.
• Ready to work in an on-call emergency response environment 24/7.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with outdoor labor or heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in clearing derailments by lifting and moving equipment.
• Operate basic tools and perform site cleanup and setup.
• Work at heights and around heavy machinery with safety protocols.
• Maintain equipment records and safe tool usage.

Hulcher Services is seeking a motivated and success-driven Laborer. You will play a vital role in assisting in clearing railroad derailments by lifting and moving derailed rail cars and locomotives, and performs similar duties on environmental remediation sites, industrial locations, and rail construction.

What You'll Do:

• Provides ground support for operations.
• Carries, handles and detaches/attaches heavy steel chains, blocks and steel cables, and other devices.
• Climbs on and crawls under derailed railroad cars and other equipment.
• Cleans, maintains and sets-up equipment requiring use of small and large tools.
• Operates cutting torch, hand and power tools, and welding equipment.
• Lifts 150 lbs. max with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
• Works at elevated heights on railroad cars; bridges, over water, or in water.
• Maintains required equipment service records.
• Assures safekeeping and proper usage of company tools.

Requirements

What You Bring:

• Must have a valid drivers license
• Ability to work on call 24/7 365 days a year in an emergency response environment
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Must be able to qualify for a Commercial Driver License.
• Experience working in construction, landscaping, farming, or other outdoor occupations is preferred.
• Must be able to use or learn to use tools and equipment.
