Job summary

Hoar Construction is seeking a Laborer to assist craft workers on commercial or industrial construction sites. You will handle materials, use hand and power tools, and help maintain safe, clean work areas across diverse weather conditions.

The role requires at least 6 months of construction labor experience, basic English communication, and a High School diploma. Candidates may travel between sites and support temporary structure setup as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong reading, written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Spanish language ability is a plus but not required.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools and place them in the correct locations.
  • Dig trenches or grade earth, backfill and prepare sites.
  • Operate hand or power tools such as hammers, tampers, and cement mixers as needed.
  • If certified, operate heavy equipment like backhoes or bobcats.
  • Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding and temporary structures.
  • Clean and prepare work sites to maintain safety and efficiency.

Description The Laborer is responsible to assist craft workers with various physical tasks at commercial or industrial construction job sites. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools and prepares and cleans task areas or work sites.

Description The Laborer is responsible to assist craft workers with various physical tasks at commercial or industrial construction job sites. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools and prepares and cleans task areas or work sites.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing and returning them to the appropriate locations; install or remove signage, railings, or other various hardware.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
  • Operate hand or power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment or other as required.
  • If certified, operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, bobcat.
  • Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
  • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

Requirements

  • 6 months experience working as a commercial or industrial construction laborer
  • Experience operating required hand and power tools
  • Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
