Job summary

Opitz Bürotechnik is seeking a Laborer to support craft workers at commercial or industrial construction sites in Browns Summit, NC. You will handle materials, operate hand and power tools, and help with site prep and cleanup.

This role requires basic carpentry awareness and physical endurance for outdoor work. You will work in a hands-on environment, assisting with scaffolding and site maintenance while complying with safety standards and site rules.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience in commercial/industrial construction labor.
• Experience operating required hand and power tools.
• English reading, writing and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, or identify materials, machinery, or tools and return them to the proper locations.
• Dig ditches or trenches and backfill to grade specifications with hand tools.
• Operate hand or power tools such as air hammers, cement mixers, or surveying equipment.
• Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, and temporary structures.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.

Job description

The Laborer is responsible to assist craft workers with various physical tasks at commercial or industrial construction job sites. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools and prepares and cleans task areas or work sites.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing and returning them to the appropriate locations; install or remove signage, railings, or other various hardware.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Operate hand or power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment or other as required.
• If certified, operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, bobcat.
• Assist in erecting or dismantling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

Requirements

• 6 months experience working as a commercial or industrial construction laborer
• Experience operating required hand and power tools
• Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
