Job description

Abernethy Contracting is seeking a Laborer. The ideal candidate will, at a minimum, possess the ability to:

• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Clean and prepare construction site to eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
• Respect and follow leadership and directions from assigned foreman.
• Treat co-workers, subcontractors and customers with respect and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations.
• Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
