Job summary

NEI General Contracting in Austin, TX is seeking a general laborer to assist in cleaning and preparing construction sites for renovations and new builds. Responsibilities include unloading/loading materials, understanding plans, tending machines, mixing and pouring concrete, and assisting carpenters and other trades on site.

Requirements include the ability to lift up to 70 lbs and the ability to follow on-site supervision and safety guidelines.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONLaborers shall be responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the renovation of existing buildings, and the erection of new structures and buildings. Primary duties include but are not limited to: unloading and loading materials, being capable of understanding plans and specifications, tending to machines, mixing and pouring concrete, and assisting carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Participate in the building and renovation of structures for commercial apartments, businesses, retail, assisted living facilities, and other construction sites2. Assist with demolition activities3. Provide support to construction managers as needed4. Be able to lift 70 lbs5. Keep work areas clean and free of debris – sweep, etc.6. Prepare construction sites by removing debris and eliminating potential hazards7. Load or unload building materials to be used in construction8. Help build or dismantle bracing, barricades, forms (molds that determine the shape of concrete), scaffolding and temporary structures9. Excavate trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction activities10. Operate or tend to equipment and machines used in construction, such as concrete mixers11. Help other craft workers with their duties12. Follow construction plans and instructions from on-site supervision
