Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking a construction laborer to support active jobsites with physical tasks and safety-focused duties. The role includes handling materials, mixing concrete, pipe work, and general site cleanup while following established policies.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with construction-related experience and relevant certifications such as Tower Rescue Training, LOTO, and Confined Space. Willingness to travel between sites is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 6–12 months of related construction experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certifications: Tower Rescue Training, LOTO, Confined Space; Wanzek Climb Training preferred.
  • Must read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete required Safety documentation.
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks such as digging, leveling dirt, and lifting building materials.
  • Clean tools, equipment, and work areas; mix and place concrete and gravel as needed.
  • Join, wrap, and seal pipe sections; remove forms and fill expansion joints as required.
  • Perform routine non-machine tasks and switch between duties as projects progress.
  • Travel to different job sites on short notice and provide on-site assistance as needed.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor on jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Complete all required Safety documentation
  • Perform a variety of functions such as dig, spread and level dirt and gravel with a pick or shovel
  • Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas
  • Mix, pour and place concrete, gravel and other materials using hand tools
  • Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe
  • Perform a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with caulking and rebar placement
  • General cleanup, demolition, use of cutting torch, jackhammers and placing culvert or pipe sections in trench
  • Spend time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
  • May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
  • Provide assistance on the site as needed
  • Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
  • Perform physical labor on construction sites
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and six to twelve months of related experience in construction
  • Or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Training and Certifications:
    • Tower Rescue Training
    • Wanzek Climb Training preferred
    • LOTO
    • Tool Drop
    • Confined Space

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to‑day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
  • Ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
