The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing high-complexity testing and supporting method validation and troubleshooting in a clinical toxicology lab environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with LCMS instrumentation, and a commitment to quality and compliance with CLIA/CAP standards.

Compensation

  • Starting pay: $25–$28/hour
  • Eligible for a $3/hour raise within the first 6 months based on training and competency

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-complexity toxicology testing, including LC-MS, in compliance with CLIA/CAP regulations
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate instruments such as Agilent 6460 and Beckman Coulter AU480/680
  • Assist in method development and validation for clinical testing panels
  • Perform and review quality control procedures and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and assay issues in collaboration with other team members
  • Participate in ongoing competency assessments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and data reporting in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols, SOPs, and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as assigned by lab management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, chemistry, biology, or a related field (required under CLIA for high-complexity testing)
  • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program or equivalent documented experience per CLIA §493.1489
  • At least 1 year of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory preferred
  • Experience with LCMS testing and instrumentation strongly preferred
  • Experience with Beckman Coulter analyzers is a plus
  • Certification (e.g., ASCP MLS or AMT MT) is preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of CLIA regulations and quality control practices
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
