SP MANAGEMENT SERVICES INC in Durango, CO is hiring a Laboratory Technician Supervisor to coordinate and manage in-house lab operations. The role reports to the Director, Outpatient Services and oversees testing, specimen handling, and workflow optimization.

The position requires a CLS/MLT credential or CLIA-supervisor qualifying degree, at least 1 year in a high-complexity lab, and strong leadership of personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a CLS or MLT certification, or an associate degree meeting CLIA supervisor qualification.
• Minimum 1 year in a high complexity lab with personnel management experience.
• Experience coordinating lab testing and processes.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and analysis.
• Collects, logs, and transfers specimens.
• Coordinates API testing as directed.
• Maintains QC and validation documentation.
• Maintains competency records and testing documentation.
• Identifies issues that affect testing or reporting.
• Oversees lab supply and inventory tracking.
• Collaborates with clinical departments and contracted labs to optimize workflow.
• Manages the Blood Bank.
• Oversees supply distribution and quality control.

Laboratory Technician Supervisor

Job Summary:

Responsible for coordination and management of in-house lab operations.

Reports To:

Director,Outpatient Services

Hourly Range:

$26.83 to $40.91 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions:

Under the supervision of the Lab Technical Consultant and Department Director, performs and coordinates all in-house lab testing and coordination.

• Performs testing and analysis
• Responsible for collecting, logging, and transferring all laboratory specimens, including cultures and pathology
• Coordinates API testing at direction of Technical Consultant
• Ensures accuracy and maintenance of competency and proficiency testing records and documentation
• Ensures accuracy and maintenance of documentation of QC and validation studies
• Identifies problems that may adversely affect testing or reporting of result
• Investigates reported or identified lab deficiencies or issues
• Oversees and manages lab supply and inventory tracking
• Works with ASH clinical departments, lab personnel, and contracted lab services to optimize specimen workflow.
• Responsible for Quality Assurance Program in the lab
• Management of Blood Bank
• Responsible for supply distribution and quality control

Education

Bachelor's degree with a CLS or MLT certification. Associates degree in an applied science field meeting CLIA's general supervisor qualification.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience working in a high complexity laboratory. Experience with managing personnel and processes.

Physical Requirements

Position regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to use computer keyboard and mouse and lab instrumentation. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures

Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

Animas Health Immunizations and Vaccinations Requirements

Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel

• Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
• Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
• Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
• Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
• Tuberculosis Screening -Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months

*Vaccine records or evidence of immunity are required prior to 1 st day of scheduled work.
