Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University in the School of Medicine is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Otolaryngology to perform routine laboratory processes under close supervision.

You will operate standard equipment, prepare solutions, maintain records, and assist with project tasks while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience per JHU equivalency formula.
  • Some science coursework or a training certificate from a technical institute is preferred.

Job description

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician in the department of Otolaryngology. The Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory processes and follows routine protocols under close supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate standard equipment.
  • Use standard procedures for specific laboratory tests and preparation techniques.
  • Assist with laboratory maintenance, prepare solutions, and order supplies.
  • Identify and report problems in the completion of routine lab processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties above

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, present data summaries, identify and resolve common problems, and use basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
  • Use basic laboratory skills, processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some science coursework and/or training certificate from a technical institute.
