Job Description

Under direct supervision, will be responsible for performing pre-analytical and assisting with the analytical procedures for patient testing.

Education

Requires Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Art in a Hard Scientific Field

Job Location

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Work Schedule
  • 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday - 8 hours per day
  • Shifts are 4pm to 12:30 a.m. or 8pm to 4:30 a.m.
  • 10% shift differential for hours worked between 9pm and 4am
  • $200 weekend differential when hours are worked on Saturday and Sunday
Essential Functions

The following are examples of responsibilities; this list is not exhaustive and management may assign other related functions based on competency and performance.

Laboratory
  • Assist with testing all methods approved by CAP and CLIA under CLS supervision.
  • Provide training and guidance to laboratory staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in process improvement activities including quality and safety initiatives.
  • Support implementation of new test methods and interact with vendors on projects.
  • Participate in technical studies to improve or validate testing methods.
  • Work closely with CLSs, reporting issues to supervisors or the director.
  • Assist with instrument maintenance, repairs, and calibration.
  • Monitor reagent and supply inventory levels.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and assay materials according to SOPs under CLS supervision.
  • Organize patient specimens and assay worksheets for testing and review.
  • Assist in writing laboratory documents such as SOPs and forms.
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and quality assurance standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Remain adaptable to evolving needs, pursue ongoing education, and perform all other related duties as assigned, understanding that this description is not all-inclusive.

Requirements
Education

Bachelor's degree in a hard scientific field required.

Experience
  • At least 1 year of general laboratory experience; knowledge of laboratory terminology is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of professional laboratory experience in a CLIA/CAP environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment.

Physical & Mental Requirements

Physical: Sitting (20%), walking (10%), standing (70%), lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally.

Mental: Ability to read and understand SOPs, perform calculations, and communicate discrepancies effectively.

  • Ability to handle moderate stress and noise levels.
  • Availability to work extended schedules as needed.
Potential Hiring Range
  • $45,760 - $48,880
  • Offers based on skills and experience.
