Arkana Laboratories in Little Rock, AR is seeking a full-time Histology Technician to train in preparing histologic slides and support pathologists in daily operations.

You will gain proficiency in tissue processing, quality control, equipment maintenance, and adherence to SOPs, with ASCP HT/HTL certification targeted within the first year. This onsite role offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree required.
• Histology-specific experience preferred but not required.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification exam within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

About the position:

Train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.

What you will do:

Clinical duties include the responsibility of becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:

• Assessing tissue adequacy for testing
• Performing quality control checks on materials produced
• Completing equipment maintenance and logs
• Developing problem-solving skills
• Determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
• Controlling operations of equipment and systems
• Monitoring and assessing performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
• Assisting in Lab for other duties as assigned
• Practicing safe work procedures while performing job duties
• Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits

Administrative Duties

• Assisting in Accessioning
• Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets

Requirements

• All SOPs must be followed
• Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead
• Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained

You should have:

Education:

Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university. Certification eligible

Experience:

Preferably Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills and 2 years of lab experience but not required

Computer Skills:

Proficient in MS Word

Other Requirements:

Full-time employees are required to apply for and take the ASCP HT/HTL certification exam within six months after one-year work anniversary

This position is onsite in Little Rock, AR and the schedule would be Tuesday-Friday 7:00AM - 4:00PM and Saturday 8:00AM-4:30PM.
