The University of Iowa's Department of Pathology is hiring a Laboratory Technician II to oversee daily lab operations, ensure service quality, and perform various laboratory tasks. The role offers a structured environment with a comprehensive health care support system and requires relevant experience or certification. Position involves working full time during the night shift.
The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to assist with the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities to ensure a smooth operation. Performs a variety of laboratory tasks related to specimen receiving, processing, sample storage, archiving, data entry of patient information, lab orders, telephone inquiries, and related problem resolution. Responsible for maintenance of laboratory equipment and supply distribution. Provides functional supervision of shift personnel. This position is 100%time, Monday-Friday, 3rd shift from 2300-0730, with rotating holidays.
Duties to include:
· Demonstrates functional supervision by the ability to direct the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.
· Ensures quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.
· Performs or directs routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.
· Performs phlebotomy.
· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
