Job Description

Eurofins Environmental Testing Southwest is searching for a Laboratory Technician I in Tustin, CA.

The Sample Preparation Laboratory Technician I is responsible for utilizing general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOPs, to weigh, digest, and prepare soil and water samples for GC and GCMS analysis.

Laboratory Technician I responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate backlog and prioritize daily workload based on required due dates and holding times.
  • Retrieve samples from sample storage for preparation.
  • Weigh and measure sample aliquots for preparation.
  • Document required sample preparation details and observations.
  • Prepare reagents and standards for daily use.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with the laboratory quality assurance program.
  • Perform daily duties while adhering to environmental health and safety policies.
  • Wash laboratory glassware as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
  • Communicate actively with department managers, analytical team, and project managers about job status, rush ETA, sample matrix issues, and holding times.
  • Assist other areas of the laboratory as needed.

Qualifications:

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • High school Chemistry coursework and basic laboratory experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Availability to work Monday - Friday, 1 pm - 10 pm, with overtime and weekends as needed.

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • General knowledge of chemistry and/or science.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work within time constraints.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, positive attitude, and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

Additional Information

Compensation range: $18 - $22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position is full-time with potential overtime and weekend work.
