Job summary

Children’s Mercy in Kansas City is seeking a laboratory support role in the Microbiology Research laboratory to assist with CDC and industry-funded grants related to acute respiratory and acute gastrointestinal infections.

The position emphasizes specimen management, inventory maintenance, and general lab operations; on-site work is required and vaccination records may be requested to comply with hospital policy.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required. On-the-job training available for 1–2 years of related phlebotomy or lab experience.
• Ability to work in a clinical laboratory with attention to detail.
• Teamwork and eligibility for immunization requirements as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Specimen management including deidentification, freezer storage and retrieval, aliquoting, labeling and shipping.
• Inventory maintenance including shipment receipt and stock for shipments received.
• Maintains general operations of the Laboratory and performs quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Attend weekly lab and team meetings.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training 1-2 years of related phlebotomy or lab experience or education training in phlebotomy preferred, but not required.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $20.27/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
