Description

As the Laboratory Technician I, you will perform basic sample and standard preparations, simple analyses, and sample custodial duties. The position is based out of Cranston, RI. This is a full-time role with hours varying, averaging 40-45 hours per week depending on business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow laboratory SOPs for sample receipt, handling, preparation, and disposal.
  • Perform simple analyses and instrument utilization for data collection not directly reported to clients.
  • Manage sample inventory, storage, and disposal.
  • Accurately document procedures and results following ESS Laboratory policies and SOPs.
  • Assist chemists and technicians as needed.
  • Manage hazardous waste in compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure proper disposal of samples and reagents.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Meet quality criteria as per QA manual.
  • Coordinate with personnel across departments.
  • Adhere to external and internal holding times and commitments.
  • Perform additional duties, including clerical tasks, as needed.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred.
  • Attention to detail with ability to understand technical terms.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work nights/weekends if required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Sedentary work with precision tasks.
  • Computer use, answering phones.
  • Visual acuity at 20 feet or more.
  • Physical activities like standing, stooping, walking, reaching, and handling chemicals.
