The Laboratory Technician, Bayway Refinery plays a key role in testing and analyzing a variety of petroleum products, process streams, and environmental samples in support of quality assurance and control. The Technician works in a technically complex, highly automated laboratory within the largest refinery on the East Coast.
The laboratory at Bayway Refinery supports a 24/7 operating schedule, therefore Technicians are assigned to a rotating EOWEO (every other weekend off) work schedule that could cover days, nights, weekends and holidays.

The Bayway Refineryis located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway's facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.

The base pay for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting rate is $41.96 per hour with periodic increases until reaching the fully qualified rate of $53.59 after 2.5 years. The starting rate will go up to $43.86 on November 1, 2025. This position has a 7.5% Variable Cash Incentive Program target, 8% 401k match, and Cash Balance Account pension.
