Job summary

Inova OB Office is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC (LTA 2 PSC) for a full-time day shift. The role will alternate between Inova OB at Hamaker Ct (Merrifield) Fairfax and Inova OB at Falls Church.

Responsibilities include specimen preparation, labeling, proper collection, and regulatory compliance. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and phlebotomy training; BLS certification within 3 months of hire is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Phlebotomy training required; completion certificate from a Phlebotomy program or another Allied Health training program.

Responsibilities

• Accurately manages specimen preparation steps, storage, and packaging for transport of specimens according to Lab protocols preserving specimen integrity and quality that effects laboratory testing.
• Communicates effectively with Inova coworkers, physicians, and staff to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Performs patient registration/billing/test order procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure correct testing, reporting, billing and regulatory compliance.
• Proper and timely specimen collection and accurately labels all specimens according to Inova policy.
• Provides excellent patient and customer service using AIDET principles and proper specimen collection procedures to assure correctness and quality of information and directions.
