Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 (LTA 1) for PRN night shifts. This role supports the laboratory with specimen processing and accessioning, and includes billing/registration tasks in compliance with regulations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED; no prior experience is required and Basic Life Support must be obtained within 3 months of hire. Inova offers strong benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• No prior laboratory experience required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate specimen processing to maintain specimen integrity.
• Manage specimen accessioning accurately to provide quality specimens for Laboratory testing.
• Perform billing/registration procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance.
• Participate in annual skills review, written evaluation of personal knowledge and direct observation of technique and process before evaluation deadline.
• Responsible for 24 hour urine container preparation and receipt (verifies collection technique, total volume and correct preservative as per facility policy).

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures accurate specimen processing to maintain specimen integrity verifies product and/or test components when processing.
• Manages specimen accessioning accurately/efficiently to provide quality specimens for Laboratory testing.
• Performs billing/registration procedures accurately and efficiently in order to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Participate in annual skills review, written evaluation of personal knowledge and direct observation of technique and process prior to evaluation deadline.
• Responsible for 24 hour urine container preparation and receipt (i.e. verifies collection technique, total volume and correct preservative as per facility policy).
