Overview

Laboratory Technician 2 – 2nd Shift

We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician responsible for various laboratory testing including Titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. You will follow all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining satisfactory production levels. The shift is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform laboratory tasks within time restraints and according to quality and safety policies.
  2. Use test results in calculations to characterize data (e.g., Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index).
  3. Prepare and aliquot samples for testing; load samples on validated automated instrumentation.
  4. Conduct equipment verification and calibration following quality requirements.
  5. Perform analysis through direct testing (wet chemistry) as per method complexity.
  6. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
  7. Calculate and prepare samples for testing.
  8. Maintain housekeeping and manage sample storage/disposal.
  9. Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents.
  10. Prepare and maintain standards and reagents.
  11. Handle hazardous wastes in compliance with ALS policies.
  12. Assist with sample receival, data entry, and shift handovers.
  13. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related science preferred, or equivalent 5 years' experience.
  • 5+ years of instrumentation analysis experience.
  • Experience with ISO 17025 or similar quality standards.
  • Laboratory experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Clear speech and hearing for communication.
  • Dexterity for handling equipment and glassware.
  • Normal vision to read reports and operate equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
