Job summary

Schwan's Company in Florence, KY is seeking a microbiology technician to perform tests and ensure quality in a food manufacturing environment. The role offers a starting pay of $18.90 per hour with a $1.50 night shift differential (6 p.m.–6 a.m.).

You will record results daily, follow GLPs, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines, and prepare materials for testing at third-party labs. Full-time with comprehensive benefits and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; science coursework preferred.
• 1+ year of related laboratory experience.
• HACCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological tests using specific media and procedures in accordance with USDA, FDA, State, Federal, and company regulations.
• Record tests daily, reporting any out of specification results to the lead or supervisor, and perform media preparation/sterilization.
• Comply with Good Lab Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
• Release raw materials and microbiological holds when there are acceptable results or as instructed by supervision.
• Prepare temperature sensitive products for shipment to 3rd party laboratory as specified by customers.

• HACCP certification preferred. Prior microbiology or laboratory experience preferred.
