The Laboratory Technician completes routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety, quality, and operational teams. You’ll be responsible for routine product testing, keeping instrumentation running well, and supporting more complex experiments under intermediate supervision. This is hands‑on lab work — not a desk job.
What you’ll do
- Run routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process, and final products independently.
- Monitor and maintain analytical instrumentation: calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs.
- Interpret and document test results into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
- Keep customer specification books current and accurate.
- Support food/feed safety, quality, and regulatory culture by collaborating cross-functionally to build and maintain effective compliance programs.
- Monitor adherence to regulations and other procedural food safety compliance requirements.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Handle clerical, administrative, technical, or customer support issues under general supervision; escape complex issues to the appropriate staff.
- Support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
About You
- Able to read and interpret documents — safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits; comfortable documenting results consistently and accurately.
- Able to work independently on routine tasks while knowing when to escape.
- Some experience or coursework in a laboratory setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations or quality systems is helpful but not required.
Nice to have
- Experience with analytical instrumentation in a food, feed, or related industry environment.
- Knowledge of food safety compliance frameworks (HACCP, GMP, or similar).
- Comfort working in a regulated environment with strict documentation requirements.
