Flint Hills Resources, LP is seeking an entry level Laboratory Technician to work in our Asphalt Group in Rosemount, MN. The role emphasizes proactive learning, process improvement, and collaboration across cross functional teams.

A commitment to environmental, health and safety, compliance, and integrity is essential. The position offers a flexible 9/80 schedule with potential for every other Friday off, depending on workload.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel as needed to support business needs and development.
• Laboratory experience (academic or industry) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory test methods accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain laboratory equipment health through calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
• Maintain and manage data within a LIMS database.
• Monitor data for trends and take appropriate action.
• Evaluate raw materials used in product formulations.
• Assist in formulation development and optimization.
• Communicate with terminal personnel, technical groups and support staff.
• Participate in meetings with internal/external segments to build value for the business.
• Aim for key metrics related to product quality, spec compliance, and EH&S performance.
• Drive improvements through innovation.

This role also offers a flexible 9/80's work schedule, meaning there is the potential for

What You Will Do

• Performing a variety of laboratory test methods in an efficient and accurate manner
• Maintaining laboratory equipment health by performing calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair tasks
• Maintaining laboratory data within a LIMS database
• Monitoring laboratory data for trends and implementing appropriate action
• Evaluating raw materials used in product formulations
• Aid in formulation development and optimization
• Actively communicating with terminal personnel, the technical group and support staff
• Participating in various meetings with internal/external business segments while focusing on maintaining and developing relationships that create value to the business
• Achieving satisfactory results in key metrics related to product quality, specification compliance, environmental, health and safety performance
• Driving improvements by profitably applying innovation
• Physical ability to occasionally sit, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, bend, and twist
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Mathematical competency of Algebra 1 or higher
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver's license
• Ability to travel as needed to support the business needs and to further professional development

What Will Put You Ahead

• Laboratory experience (academic or industry)
• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, etc
• Experience applying the scientific method and designing laboratory experiments

For this role, we anticipate paying $25-$30 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
