Laboratory Technician

Position Overview

This role offers an opportunity to transition from various private, public, government, or military experiences into a 3M career.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Laboratory Technician in 3M’s Corporate Research Process Laboratory, you will leverage your curiosity and collaborate with innovative professionals worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment in the research laboratory.
• Operate film/adhesive extrusion lines and conduct experiments.
• Prepare and operate extrusion equipment.
• Support development of new extrusion technologies and processes.
• Perform equipment maintenance, setup, and changeovers.
• Identify and troubleshoot defects during manufacturing, making adjustments as needed.
• Keep records of run conditions and produce reports.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or higher.
• At least 2 years of laboratory experience in any sector.
• Experience with polymer processing equipment for 2+ years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or technical degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Experience as an operator in R&D or pilot facilities.
• Hardware and machinery maintenance skills.
• Experience with polymer processing equipment (extruders, pumps, film casting, adhesive coating).
• Strong communication skills and safety orientation.
