Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring a Laboratory Technician in Houston, TX. You’ll keep machines stocked, products moving, and the floor safe. The role starts at 8 am with a pay rate of $25.00 per hour, offering steady work and pride in quality manufacturing.

You will prepare metal powder samples, perform particle size, density, chemical and physical property testing, and operate lab equipment. You’ll record results, calibrate gear, and help improve processes with the team.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred in metrology, QA, QC or lab field.
• Additional lab certifications or specialized training required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal powder samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform particle size, density, chemical, and physical property testing.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment (analyzers, microscopes, spectrometers, sieves).
• Record and analyze test results to ensure quality standards.
• Prepare reports and document testing activities accurately.
• Calibrate testing equipment and maintain laboratory records.
• Assist in investigating quality concerns and resolving product issues.
• Follow ASTM, AMS, customer specs, and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvements.

Education

AAS preferred in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Quality Control or lab-focused tech field

Education Requirements

• Associate's Degree (AAS preferred) in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Quality Control Technology, or a laboratory-focused technical field
• Additional laboratory certifications or specialized training required

Experience Requirements

• Previous laboratory experience preferred, especially testing metal powders
• Experience with laboratory equipment, analytical testing, and data collection
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems is a plus
• Understanding of quality assurance, corrective actions, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement practices preferred

Job Duties

• Prepare metal powder samples for laboratory testing

Physical Capabilities

• Stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Perform repetitive testing and inspection tasks
• Work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment with exposure to metal powders
• Wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory equipment when needed
• Follow strict safety and hazardous material handling procedures
