Job summary

Cullman Regional Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team. You will perform routine and complex testing that helps physicians and clinical teams make critical decisions about patient care.

You will assist with phlebotomy, specimen processing, and other lab duties while maintaining quality and safety. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and compassionate care in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent with required clinical education.
• Current national certification as required for the position.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review routine and complex clinical laboratory testing per policies and standards.
• Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and quality control while ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare test reports and communicate atypical and critical results to healthcare professionals with proper documentation.
• Assist with phlebotomy, specimen processing, laboratory clerical functions, and pathology assistant duties as needed.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and handle exceptions in the laboratory.
• Assist with training and education of students on clinical rotations.
• Collect and process chain-of-custody urine drug screens and breathalyzer testing.
• Promote teamwork and contribute to an exceptional patient and guest experience.
• Support a culture focused on patient safety, quality, accuracy, and compassionate care.

What You’ll Do

• Perform and review routine and complex clinical laboratory testing in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and professional standards.
• Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and quality control while maintaining accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare test reports and promptly communicate atypical and critical results to the appropriate healthcare professionals, with appropriate documentation.
• Assist with phlebotomy, specimen processing, laboratory clerical functions, and pathology assistant duties as needed.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and handle exceptions within the laboratory.
• Assist with training and education of students completing clinical laboratory rotations.
• Collect and process chain-of-custody urine drug screens and breathalyzer testing.
• Promote teamwork and contribute to an exceptional patient and guest experience.
• Support a culture focused on patient safety, quality, accuracy, and compassionate care.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or an equivalent program with completion of required clinical education.
• Current national certification as required for the position.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Six months of clinical laboratory experience.
