Job summary

Remedy Intelligent Staffing in Cedar Rapids is seeking a dependable Laboratory Technician to support production with analytical testing of metal samples. The role requires a rotating shift (6am–6pm or 6pm–6am) and involves mechanical and dimensional testing, using routers and small tools, and data entry of results.

Qualified candidates typically hold an Associate Degree in a science-related field or have 3 years of lab experience, with metal manufacturing preference and basic PC software

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Science-related field or 3 years lab experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Manufacturing or metals experience preferred.
• General PC familiarity and related software experience.
• Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
• Proper use of testing equipment.
• Familiarity with ASTM methods.

Responsibilities

• Complete mechanical and dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions and ASTM specifications.
• Utilize router, shear, and other small power tools to shape samples.
• Prepare and analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
• Enter data accurately and complete test results and communicate results to required parties.
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
• Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals.
• Support Quality and R&D departments with special testing protocols.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Pay: $22.00 / hour

Remedy is currently seeking a dependable Laboratory Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support for the production departments for a local metal manufacturing company by providing analysis of metal samples from the manufacturing process.

Primary Duties:

• Complete mechanical & dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions & ASTM specifications.
• Utilize router, shear, & other small power tools to shape samples.
• Prepare & analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
• Enter data accurately and completely to record test results & communicate those results to required parties.
• Perform preventative maintenance & calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
