Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform testing and provide reliable analytical services for Operations and customers. The role emphasizes safety, sample handling, and waste analysis using LIMS and standard QA/QC practices.

Responsibilities include pH, oxidizer and cyanide screening, BTU and water analysis, and maintaining lab equipment. Associates or higher in science are preferred, with 2+ years of lab experience or equivalent education.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience or an associate’s degree in a science related field
  • Environmental laboratory experience preferred
  • Must follow safety policies and QA/QC procedures

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing to support operations and customers in a timely manner

  • Complete material analysis to determine characteristics and waste profiles
  • Determine pH, screen for oxidizers, peroxides, cyanides, sulfides, and assess fuel/water compatibility
  • Operate LIMS and document results accurately
  • Stock, organize, and safely dispose of retain and other waste samples
  • Ensure lab areas and storeroom are clean and organized
  • Perform instrument checks and basic maintenance
  • Support other laboratory shifts as needed
  • Take on additional duties to support the team and organization

Job description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Laboratory Technician As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing to provide reliable and analytical services to Operations and customers in a timely manner.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Completes material analysis to determine characteristics and waste profiles
  • Makes determination of pH, screens for oxidizers, peroxides, cyanides, and sulfides, and identifies fuel and water compatibilities
  • Determines heat of combustion (BTU value), total halogens and completes water analysis (by Karl Fischer), percent solids and paint-filter liquids
  • Utilizes Company Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Performs compositing, packaging, organizing, and proper disposal of retain and other waste samples
  • Stocks and organizes laboratory areas and storeroom with chemicals and laboratory supplies
  • Performs instrument checks including refrigerators, balances, hoods, thermometers, and pipettes
  • Utilizes and upholds good laboratory practices (e.g. QA/QC, documentation, maintenance/minor repairs, housekeeping, professionalism)
  • Maintains ability to assist other laboratory shifts as needed
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education
  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associates / bachelor’s degree in a science related field (preferred)
Experience
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience (required) -OR-
  • In lieu of experience, an associates degree in a science related field (required)
  • Environmental laboratory experience (preferred)
