Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform testing and analytical services for Operations and customers. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely data reporting.

The position requires 2+ years of lab experience or an associated science degree, with preference for environmental lab background. Training on our LIMS system and standard lab protocols will be provided.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience (required) -OR-
  • Associates degree in a science related field (required)
  • Environmental laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory testing to provide reliable analytical services
  • Completes material analysis to determine characteristics and waste profiles
  • Determines pH, screens for oxidizers, peroxides, cyanides, sulfides
  • Determines heat of combustion (BTU value) and water analysis by Karl Fischer
  • Utilizes Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Stocking and organizing laboratory and storeroom with chemicals and supplies
  • Performs instrument checks including refrigerators, balances, hoods, thermometers, pipettes
  • Upholds good laboratory practices (QA/QC, documentation, housekeeping)

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Completes material analysis to determine characteristics and waste profiles
  • Makes determination of pH, screens for oxidizers, peroxides, cyanides, and sulfides, and identifies fuel and water compatibilities
  • Determines heat of combustion (BTU value), total halogens and completes water analysis (by Karl Fischer), percent solids and paint-filter liquids
  • Utilizes Company Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Performs compositing, packaging, organizing, and proper disposal of retain and other waste samples
  • Stocks and organizes laboratory areas and storeroom with chemicals and laboratory supplies
  • Performs instrument checks including refrigerators, balances, hoods, thermometers, and pipettes
  • Utilizes and upholds good laboratory practices (e.g. QA/QC, documentation, maintenance/minor repairs, housekeeping, professionalism)
  • Maintains ability to assist other laboratory shifts as needed
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
