Laboratory Technical Specialist
Inova Fairfax Hospital Campus is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician Specialist to join the Inova Chemistry Lab team working hands on with the MLS students. This role will be Full-Time Day Shift: Monday-Friday from 06:30am-3:00pm.

Job Responsibilities:
- The Laboratory Technical Specialist ensures quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
- Operates systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control and proficiency testing.
- Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently is expected.
- Participates in departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
- Communicates effectively and working cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
- Follows standard protocol for patient/donor identification and specimen/blood product labeling including final verification.
- Prepares and distributes specimens to departments according to specimen requirement and priority delivery.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of ASCP/AMT Board certification For TA +
- Experience: 3 years of experience in an accredited laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology
- Certification: American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Society Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include: Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Histotechnician (HT), Histotechnologist (HTL).
