PRN Variable

Located in Largo, in the heart of Prince George’s County, our new state-of-the-art, level 2 trauma center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) provides improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serves as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. Our new space will also allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health of Prince George’s County residents.

We’re seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team at UM Capital. Our affiliation with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) offers new career pathways, making this an excellent time to join us.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Section Supervisor, performs ordering, procurement, receiving, and processing of patient specimens. Requires practical and theoretical knowledge of phlebotomy procedures. Patient contact and specimens may include individuals from infants to adult-geriatric age groups.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational schooling in medical sciences or previous phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, nurses, and co-workers.
  • Ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • High school graduates interested in laboratory work are encouraged to apply.
