Job summary

OLH Technical Services, a Federal Government Contractor, seeks a Laboratory Support Technician in Irvine, CA to assist in microbiological, chemical and sensory analyses.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, handling materials and equipment safely, preparing media, autoclave operation, glassware sterilization, and maintaining lab cleanliness and safety checks. The role supports government and commercial projects.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of laboratory, industrial, custodial, or similar experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to lift 25-30 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Basic familiarity with cleaning, sanitizing, or handling laboratory glassware.
• OSHA 10-hour General Industry certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory quality, safety, and standard operating procedures.
• Handle laboratory materials, equipment, and samples safely.
• Weigh, mix, adjust pH, heat, label, and sterilize laboratory media, reagents, and solutions.
• Operate autoclaves to sterilize prepared media, containers, and waste materials.
• Prepare samples for microbiological, chemical, and sensory analysis using appropriate techniques.
• Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware.
• Collect and safely transport contaminated materials for disposal.
• Maintain cleanliness of laboratory areas and perform routine safety checks of eyewash stations and emergency showers.
• Perform temperature mapping of laboratory equipment, document results, and assist with equipment function verification.
• Conduct acid cleaning of digestive vessels and centrifuge tubes.
• Perform daily and weekly monitoring checks of the deionized water systems.
