Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician/Phlebotomist to procure and process laboratory specimens and support testing workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, data entry, sterile technique, and following department policies to ensure accuracy and timely results. Must be able to work across age groups and maintain PHI compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Formal training from accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program preferred.
  • Entry-level experience in phlebotomy or laboratory support is acceptable.
  • Must adhere to PHI policies and UH codes of conduct.

Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions.


What You Will Do



  • Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.

  • Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomy

  • Processes specimens for laboratory testing.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Education


  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and

  • Other Accredited Program: Formal Training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program (preferred) (Preferred)


Work Experience


  • less than 1 year Entry level (Required)

Licenses and Certifications


  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred Upon Hire)
