Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32. Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our core laboratory team as a part-time night phlebotomist at our main hospital campus in La Crosse, WI. Phlebotomists, C.N.A.s, PCTs, CMAs, and other individuals with an interest in laboratory work are encouraged to apply. Prior lab experience is preferred but not required—on‑the‑job training will be provided.

What You’ll Do
  • Collect specimens via venipuncture, capillary draw, swab collections, urine collections, and provide instruction to patients for self‑collections.
  • Work with a variety of patient demographics and acuities, including Trauma & Emergency Center admits, ICU, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, PICU, NICU, Orthopedics, Cardiopulmonary, Surgical, Digestive, and more.
  • Respond to emergency events within hospital and clinic settings.
  • Perform specimen processing: centrifuge, separate blood components, micro set‑up, referral lab, point‑of‑care, media prep, Istat, urine dips, etc.
  • Verify patient information and ensure accurate labeling of specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper storage and transportation.
  • Follow established protocols and safety guidelines to maintain a sterile and safe environment.
  • Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition before, during, and after blood collection.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection and processing.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Adhere to quality control procedures to maintain specimen and test result integrity.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma or equivalency, with proof at time of hire.
  • Strong customer service skills with ability to provide compassionate care to patients.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Previous phlebotomy/medical experience preferred, but not required.

Job Details
  • 64 hours biweekly (0.8 FTE).
  • Orientation full‑time for 5–6 weeks.
  • 8‑hour night shifts (10 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) with every third weekend rotation (Friday & Saturday nights).
  • Starting pay of $17.54 per hour, escalating with experience.
  • Shift, weekend, and holiday differentials; overtime at 1.5× regular rate after 8 hours in a day and 80 hours in a 14‑day period.
